An evening looking at architecture, space and power programmed in collaboration with 'other' and artist chan teck guan jee with a film screening and discussion.

The People vs The Rainbow Nation goes behind the scenes of mass student movements such as #rhodesmustfall and #feesmustfall, and asks what happened to Mandela's Rainbow Nation and what's next for South Africa? 

The film screening will be followed by a discussion between student collective 'other' and artist chan teck guan jee, drawing parallels to their experiences as students. 'other' is a research and design project by GSA People of Colour Collective profiling people of colour working in architecture. chan teck guan jee is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is foregrounded by an interrogation of (post-)colonial power. They regard the body as a living archive and a site of healing-exorcism. Creating at the intersections of dance, live art and design, their work mediates between memory and (re-)imagination with particular regard to the queer, the diasporic and the culturally orphaned.
